Simternship!

We’ve officially finished our Simternship assignment for class, and I feel a mix of emotions. On one hand, I really enjoyed learning how to manage a social media account, like scheduling posts and promoting Buhi across different platforms. It was an interesting experience that taught me a lot about the behind-the-scenes work of social media marketing. On the other hand, I’m relieved it’s over because it was time-consuming, especially since I procrastinated on the assignment. The simulation taught me a lot, including how to negotiate with influencers, when the best times to post are, and what kind of content works best for engaging an audience. These lessons will definitely help me in future projects and give me a better understanding of the digital marketing world.

The first part of the simulation focused on creating organic social media posts to promote Buhi's brand and products. This portion of the assignment was quite time-consuming because I had to constantly switch between tabs to figure out the best times to post and identify the target market for each platform. However, I really appreciated these first three rounds because they helped me realize that posting on social media is about more than just clicking a button. It's about creating meaningful content and having a clear plan in place to make sure the posts reach the right audience at the right time.

Next, I moved on to creating paid social media posts. This part of the simulation was a bit different because paid posts require more planning. I had to decide how much money to spend on each post, choose the right content to promote, and make sure I was targeting the right audience. It gave me a better idea of how paid ads work on social media and how important it is to track how well your posts are doing to get the best results. This experience taught me how to balance budget and strategy to ensure effective advertising and reach.

Additionally, I got to work on what it takes to involve social media influencers with your company and how to negotiate with them. This part of the simulation helped me understand the importance of influencers in promoting products and reaching a wider audience. I learned how to approach influencers, communicate effectively, and make sure the collaboration benefits both the brand and the influencer. It showed me that influencer marketing is a valuable tool in building brand awareness and trust among potential customers.

Finally, I got to simulate three rounds that combined all the things I had learned so far during the Simternship. These rounds took everything into account, such as paid social posts, social media influencers, and organic social media posts. During these rounds, I focused entirely on conversions, as my goal was to maximize revenue. I carefully selected content that would drive sales and increase engagement. To make the most money, I looked for as many free media pieces as possible to post, hoping that reducing costs would improve my overall profitability. This final stage helped me see how all the elements of social media marketing work together to drive a business's success.
