Snapchat is more than just a messaging app for me; it’s my primary platform for news, information, and connecting with friends. As I scroll through my feed, I notice how effectively many brands and creators use Snapchat for marketing. After reading Chapter 7: Snapchat Marketing, I have a lot of new knowledge of the power in Snapchat marketing and how it relates to my daily life.
Snapchat has over 300 million active users, making it a significant platform for marketers. Its unique features, such as Stories, Discover, and Snap Ads, allow brands to engage users in creative ways. Unlike traditional advertising, Snapchat offers a more personal and interactive experience. Brands can share behind-the-scenes content, special promotions, and real-time updates that resonate with their audience. Snapchat is known for having very snackable content and posts because posts can only be uploaded on a user's "Story" for 24 hours. Users are more likely to engage with content that feels exclusive or time-sensitive, leading to higher engagement rates compared to other social media platforms.
To successfully use Snapchat for marketing, brands need to create engaging content that captures attention through visuals and storytelling. Since I often find myself watching Snapchat Stories, I can attest that creative and fun content keeps me engaged. Snap Ads, which appear between Stories and can include videos or images, offer brands a chance to reach users in a more organic setting. Collaborating with influencers can also boost a brand’s image, as I often see my favorite creators promoting products, making me more likely to check them out. Offering exclusive deals encourages quick action, and I’ve taken advantage of several Snapchat-only offers that make me feel special as a user. Additionally, brands that actively engage with their audience by responding to comments and messages build a sense of community, which I appreciate.
As someone who uses Snapchat daily, I see firsthand how effective it can be for marketing. I frequently come across news snippets and promotions that influence my decisions. For example, I’ve learned about new products, events, and trends directly through Snapchat, rather than through traditional media sources. This reflects how the platform is becoming a primary source of information for many users, especially younger audiences.
In my experience, Snapchat marketing works because it feels relatable and accessible. Brands that understand this can create campaigns that resonate with users like me. Snapchat marketing is a powerful tool for brands looking to connect with their audience in a personal way. As a frequent user, I appreciate the creativity and engagement that come with marketing on this platform. By using engaging content, Snap Ads, influencer partnerships, exclusive deals, and active user engagement, brands can effectively reach their target audience. For me, Snapchat isn’t just a photo-based app; it’s a source of information and news.

Totally agree! Snapchat is more than just messaging, it's a great platform for news and quick, engaging content. I do have to say the ads get pretty annoying after a while but I can understand why they're there. It’s such a unique platform for marketing, and I totally relate to getting influenced by my favorite creators.
