The Power of Facebook!

Growing up, I always thought Facebook was only meant for older generations. Now that I have Facebook, I’ve changed my mind about that statement I made when I was younger. I originally downloaded Facebook to stay connected and communicate with family all over the country. But as I got older, I started using it for various purposes, such as marketing my landscaping company, shopping and selling on the marketplace, and, of course, staying in touch with loved ones.

Today, Facebook continues to succeed as the most popular social media platform in 2024. With over 3.05 billion active users each month, $48.68 billion in total ad revenue, and an average of 19.7 hours spent on the app monthly, it’s no surprise that it surpasses expectations and maintains its reputation as the leading social media platform. In 2024, there are more than 200 million active small and medium business pages, and each month, over 20 billion messages are exchanged on Messenger with businesses. When I think about these numbers, they truly are astonishing.

Since I began to professionalize my landscaping business, I knew that having a strong social media presence was important, especially on Facebook. I recognized that my target market was older people who needed help with tasks like raking leaves, mowing lawns, or shoveling snow. So, I spent a lot of time posting flyers in community groups I joined on Facebook. This effort helped me gain several clients, all in that ideal age range. I designed my posts and flyers to show that I was a college student looking to help my community while making some money. I know the older generations appreciate and are thankful for this kind of service, which is why I believe my posts would succeed on this platform.

In conclusion, my journey with Facebook has completely changed my view of the platform. What I once thought was just for older generations has become a valuable tool for connecting with family and growing my landscaping business. As Facebook remains the leading social media platform in 2024, it continues to offer incredible opportunities for small businesses like mine. By targeting the older generation in my community, I’ve not only found clients but also strengthened my reputation with those around me. It’s amazing to see how a platform I originally underestimated has played such a significant role in my life. I’m excited to keep using Facebook to connect, share, and grow both personally and professionally!

  1. I definitely viewed facebook with the lens of it only being for millennials but after learning more about how useful of a tool it is for marketing your business I have completely changed my mind. I think Facebook is especially useful with businesses that used to be known through word of mouth like landscaping and contracting. I hope your business flourishes and you are able to continue building your network of clients through social media!
