Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday, and this year was no exception. After weeks of busy classes and homework, I was excited to go home and spend the break with my family. Thanksgiving is always a time for great food, fun activities, and making memories. This year, I enjoyed participating in the Turkey Trout, watching the Detroit Lions football game, and eating delicious meals.
My family and I participated in the Turkey Trout for the first time, and it was a great experience. Before the race, I told my family I wasn’t planning to run ahead and leave them behind because I wanted to enjoy the experience together. But as soon as the race started, they all sped ahead, leaving me behind for about 200 feet. I ended up passing them and finishing in 106th place out of 1,268 runners. I really enjoyed running the 5K and plan to do more in the future!
After the Turkey Trout, we quickly showered and headed over to my cousin's house for our first Thanksgiving gathering of the day. We spent time catching up with family while watching the Lions game, which came down to the wire. The Lions were ahead for most of the game, but the Bears made a strong push in the second half. In the end, the Lions won 23-20, defeating the Bears to improve their record to 11-1. My family was thrilled with the win, and it helped set a positive tone for the rest of the day. I really enjoyed catching up with my cousins and hearing about what’s new in their lives.
We left my mom's side of the family and headed over to the other side for the next Thanksgiving feast. By this point, I was already stuffed and feeling really full, but I was still excited to visit my other cousins. We spent time chatting and enjoying each other's company, which is really what Thanksgiving is all about. I also had my first beer with my uncles and aunts, which was a funny experience, to say the least. It was a great way to wrap up the day and enjoy some lighthearted moments with the family.
This Thanksgiving was a great reminder of how important it is to spend time with family and enjoy the simple things. From the Turkey Trout to watching the Lions game and catching up with cousins, it was a day filled with good food and good company. It was nice to take a break from everything, appreciate the moment, and just enjoy being together.
I’m glad you had a great Thanksgiving! I also went to two dinners and absolutely ate too much, but it was so well worth it. And I agree, spending time with family is always important!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you were able to enjoy your break and spend some time with friends and family. I know that Thanksgiving is also one of my favorite holidays as it is always a good time to get a break from school and get to relax and enjoy time off!
ReplyDeleteWOW grant that is so awesome that your family runs the turkey trot in the morning, my family could never we typically like to start celebrating thanksgiving the night before. I also watched the lions game on thanksgiving, they are a exciting ball team to watch. The coach is electric and his players really buy into what he is selling. I am very curious what type of food you had on thanksgiving, any specefic desert of interest??? My go to is pumpkin pie that my grandma always makes. I hope that your semester has gone well and you finish strong. I remember when I took this class many moons ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the sims and acting like a marketing manager. I also looked forward to how much revenue I brought in every week. I wish you the best in the future Mr. Israel.
