Weekend Reflection

Looking back on my weekend, I enjoyed playing soccer, hanging out with friends and, spending time at the cider mill. Saturday started with a soccer game against Capital, where we gave it our all on the field. After the game, I spent quality time with my teammates and family, enjoying some much-needed time to relax. Sunday began with a recovery breakfast, followed by a trip to the cider mill, watching Lions football and, some studying. This blog will capture a more in-depth look at all of the things that I did this weekend!

Saturday, we had an important game against Capital University, which was our first true test in the OAC. Before Capital, we held a record of 4-0 in the OAC while capturing a shutout in every game up to that point. We started the game off strong and had great energy, but one mistake in the back cost us a very uncharacteristic goal in the closing minutes of the first half. This was a gut-wrenching feeling because we knew that our shutout streak was now over. We ended up scoring with 15 minutes left in the game, but it was a little too late; the game ended in a tie.

Afterward, we had a quick bus ride back to campus and headed out to our senior's houses. Although the game didn't go the way we wanted, we knew that being together was the most important thing for us at that moment. Our captains and team leaders do a great job of prioritizing and stressing the importance of team bonding. Nights like these remind me of how lucky and grateful I am to be a part of this team.

Sunday Morning, I had a very beneficial breakfast to start my day that consisted of two slices of pizza, fruit and, chocolate milk. My friends and I then decided to go to the cider mill once we all had gotten some fuel in our systems. We went on a hayride, picked flowers and, enjoyed cider slushes. I love going to the cider mill back home in Michigan, so it was fun to go to one close to Ada.

I ended my day watching the Lions take on the Minnesota Vikings in a game that would come down to the wire. The game started all Lions and continued to go that way until the third quarter when the Vikings would have a huge comeback. In the final moments of the fourth quarter, the Lions defense came up with a huge stop. They would charge down the field with the ball and set up kicker Jake Bates for an opportunity to win the game. With seconds remaining, Bates would kick the game-winning field goal for a Lions Victory. This was the perfect way to end my Sunday and weekend!

Looking back on my weekend, I enjoyed a mix of soccer, time with friends and, fun at the cider mill. Saturday started with a challenging game against Capital, where we fought hard but ended in a tie. After the game, spending time with my teammates reminded me of how important our bond is. Sunday, I kicked things off with a great recovery breakfast and then went to the cider mill with friends, where we had a blast on the hayride and enjoyed some delicious cider slushes. I wrapped up the day cheering for the Lions as they pulled off an exciting last-minute win. Overall, it was a weekend filled with good memories and moments that I’m thankful for.
